What Is PSP?

What is PSP?  PSP stands for Play station Portable made by Sony Corporation.   This device is what Sony has entered into the marketplace with regards to handheld gaming with interactive video and audio in one compact device.   It can be considered a smaller and more compact version of Sony’s Home Entertainment System, the “Playstation”. The device was introduced into the marketplace in March of 2005 and has one main rival competitor, that being the Nintendo DS.

The PSP weighs just under 10 ounces, has a 4.3-inch display, and features a 802.11b chip for playing interactive games over wireless networks.  But PSPs are not for just playing Games, they can also be used for playing Movies, Music and other Audio-Video content.  With the wireless capability you can also gain access to the Internet as long as you have Firmware v2.0 or greater.  There is also an expandable Memory Slot for holding all your music, video, pictures, etc.  The memory can be expanded up to 2GB of storage space with the latest Firmware version.  Battery life on a rechargeable battery is up to 5 hours of use on average depending on what settings you have like picture brightness, volume, etc.

One of the main advantage of the PSP is the image quality of the screen for it’s high resolution graphics and full bright color capabilities making this device more than just for games.  So if your work and lifestyle are on the go, or you are on a long trip or commute to work, you can download content that you want to view, play, etc and have it available while you are in commute.

Once you have acquired your PSP, there is one site that I am a member of where I go to download Games, Movies, TV Shows, Music, etc for my PSP.  I find this site to be very reliable and provides up to date and the hottest items that you can add on to your PSP.  Please have a look at PSP Blender by clicking on the following link.  Click on Register if you are interested in joining.
